Stateable plans are flexible — you can move up, move down, or cancel at any time. This article walks each path and what happens to your billing when you do.
Before you begin
Changing or canceling a plan requires the Organization Settings permission. If you don't have it, ask an owner to make the change.
Upgrade
Open the Billing page.
Click Change plan.
Pick the new plan. The dialog shows the price difference and the prorated charge.
Confirm. Stripe charges your card for the difference immediately.
Upgrades take effect the moment Stripe confirms. Higher upload limits unlock instantly; any extra features turn on within a minute or two once your account finishes updating. Your billing period stays the same — your renewal date doesn't shift.
Downgrade
The flow is identical to upgrading, but the dollar amount shows a credit instead of a charge. The credit is applied to your next invoice.
A few things to know about downgrading:
If you've already used more than the new plan allows, the downgrade waits until the end of the billing period instead of happening right away. You don't lose any data; you just can't upload more until the lower plan's period starts.
Features that came with your old plan stop working after the downgrade. For example, sending exports straight to your own S3 storage (a cloud storage bucket) turns off if you move to a plan that doesn't include it; any scheduled exports stop running but aren't deleted, so moving back up brings them right back.
Cancel
Open the Billing page.
Click Open billing portal. Stripe's hosted portal opens.
Cancel the subscription from there.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep full access until then, and we don't issue a partial refund. After cancellation:
Your data is preserved.
Sign-in still works.
You can re-subscribe at any time and pick up exactly where you left off.
Permanent deletion: To permanently delete your organization and its data, contact Support — see [How to reach Stateable Support](contacting-stateable-support).
Proration, in plain terms
If you're 10 days into a 30-day billing period and you upgrade to a plan that costs $30 more per month, Stateable charges you $30 × (20 ÷ 30) = $20 today. Your next invoice on renewal day is the full new monthly price.
Downgrades follow the same math in reverse — you get a credit equal to the unused portion of your old plan, applied to your next invoice.
Annual billing
We can set up annual billing at a discount if you ask. Contact Support with the plan you want and how many seats; we'll send a custom invoice and switch your subscription over once it's paid.
Troubleshooting
The Change plan button is greyed out. You don't have the Organization Settings permission. Ask an owner to make the change.
I was charged an amount I didn't expect. Proration — partial credit or charge for the days remaining in the current period. Open the Stripe portal and view the latest invoice for the line-item breakdown.
