Switch between organizations

If you belong to more than one Stateable org, here's how to jump between them and what carries over.

Written by Stateable

One login, every org: if your firm runs more than one Stateable organization — for example, a real working space and a separate one just for testing, or different business units — you can belong to several with the same login and switch between them in a couple of clicks.

How to switch

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner.

  2. The menu lists every organization you're a member of. Your current org has a checkmark.

  3. Click another organization. The page reloads into that org's data.

Switching takes a second. Once it's done, the whole app shows the new org and only the new org — Documents, Data, Exports, Team, everything.

What carries over between orgs

A few things follow you:

  • Your profile — name, email, password, and any Google or Microsoft sign-in you've connected. One account, all orgs.

  • Your display preferences — theme, font, density. Set them once, applies everywhere.

What doesn't carry over

Most things, by design. Each org is its own world:

  • Data, statements, and rules.

  • Custom fields.

  • Exports and integrations.

  • Teammates and permissions — your role in org A says nothing about org B.

  • Billing, trial status, plan, and which features are turned on.

Note: That separation is on purpose — a customer's org and your firm's own testing org should never see each other's data.

How to join another org

Two paths:

  1. Someone invites you — they enter your email on their Team page, and you get an email with a link. Clicking it adds you to their org without changing your password.

  2. You start a new signup with the same email — for a brand-new org you're founding. This creates a separate organization owned by you.

If you were expecting an invite and it didn't arrive, check spam first, then ask the inviter to use the Resend invite action.

A note on your "active" org

Stateable treats one of your orgs as the active one at any given time. If you save a link while you're in org A and open it later while org B is the active one, Stateable switches you back to the right org before the page loads. Every link knows which org it belongs to.

Troubleshooting

  • I don't see an org picker in my avatar menu. You only belong to one organization. Ask the other org's owner to invite you.

  • I switched orgs but still see the old org's data. The browser tab is still showing the old org. Refresh the page after switching.
